T.R.'s Legacy

We've spent the past view days discussing Teddy Roosevelt's impact on business and society. Earlier in the year, we went over T.R.'s impact on foreign policy. He is widely considered one of the greater presidents in the history of the U.S. Would you rank him in your top 5 most influential presidents? If so, where and why? Is there any president that you would consider more important? Who and why? Give some details that back up your decision.

  1. Yes, I would rank him in the my most top 5 most influential because of the things he has done. His decisions to lead in certain ways influential to me. I think him and Abraham Lincoln are my top 2 presidents.

  2. Deffantly i believe he would be in my top 5 most influential presidents because she has made desisions for us and done things for this country that created a huge impact on our lives today. If he wasn't around, our lives could be completely different and so im thankful for his great influence.
Im not really familiar with many other presidents so i don't feel right anwsering this. George Washington was every important but im not sure if he would be one of my top influential because im not sure what life changing or inspiring things he has done.

  3. I would consider him one of the top 5 most influential Presidents. I would probably make him number 3 after Abraham Lincoln and George Washington only because Lincoln abolished slavery and George Washington was our first president and helped free America from Britain and create the Constitution.

  5. T.R. is (and has been) my favorite president throughout history. I would say he would be the best that we've had so far due to his outspoken and influential eloquence and his resistance to the pressure of conforming to his party's beliefs. I do not believe any other president was of more importance than T.R (relating to how much change they brought to America). This is because T.R. was perhaps the most individualistic of all our presidents and was not afraid of resistance from anyone; not politicians, nor foreign nations.

  6. I think George Washington is the most important president because he helped to unify the states. Abraham Lincoln is the second most important, because he unified the U.S. and was the president during the Civil War. Then it’s Franklin Roosevelt, who took the U.S. out of economic depression and helped prepared the U.S. for WW2. Teddy Roosevelt is the forth, because of all his accomplishments, like building the Panama Canal and changing the way the government was run. He is known for his aggressive and strait-forward nature, which I think was really important for a president of that time. Finally, Woodrow Wilson is the one who initiated social reforms and took the U.S. through a horrible war.

  7. I believe T.R. Would be in the top 5 because he was very out spoken and he was fare and didn't just pick the side of the business men but also the workers and if it wasnt for him things would be very different. I dont really know all the presidents but Lincon and Washington then Teddy is the order I would put them in.

  8. Yes, i would say that T.R. would be in the top 5 presidents. He liked politics and knew exactly what to do and say to be a better president. Everyone liked him and the way that he helped us. He wanted to do what would be right for the people.Plus he also liked being in the spotlight and having everyone hear what he had to say. Since he had done such a great job he would have been voted again. He really did change peoples lives.

The only presidents that have stuck to me that was a well known president in my eyes were George Washington and Abraham Lincoln he was the one that helped the slaves become free.

  9. Teddy Roosevelt would definitely be in my top five U.S. presidents. I dont know much about other presidents so i dont know where exactly in the top five he would stand. I know he was a very influential president and had one of the biggest impacts on our country. I would rank him in the top five because he has brought our country a long way from where it started. T.R. had a strong view on foreign policy and made the u.s. a big player in world economics. He also created a safer work environment for laborers and shorter workdays. He also brought under control the consumption of the nations natural resources once he realized they were quickly being used up. During Roosevelts presidency the executive branch increased in power, the ICC gained power to set rates, the Agriculture Department became able to inspect food, the Bureau of Corporations could monitor business, and the attorney general could rapidly bring antitrust lawsuits under the Expedition Act.

  10. Teddy Roosevelt is definitely in my top 5 great presidents. I think that Roosevelt is one of the few presidents that was genuinely concerned with the needs of the American people. The way he took action with things like trusts in the Expedition Act showed his integrity for the nation's well being. Caring about things like natural resources in a time where most people were more interested in industrialization and business also showed Teddy Roosevelt's righteousness as a person. I think he was very influential, and that shows when he is talked about to this day, that he did not represent his "party" but the American people. Many things Teddy Roosevelt did during his time in office made things better for us today. TR cared enough to create a safer environment for people in many categories including food, labor, resources, etc. and I find that very unique and worthy of appreciation.

  11. T.R. deserves to be in the top 5. Among presidents, his name is one of the most frequently spoken in the US. For obvious reasons. He enjoyed presidency, he loved the spotlight and etiquette that was expected from him. But he was wise enough to know that he's not just a submissive figure. He wanted to deserve his position and give welfare to people in return. He could see life from a different angle of someone, who is not in his position, and for that reason he knew he had to support common people, laborers and everyone who was honest. That's why he was respected by everyone.

  12. I don't actually know a lot about u.s' presidents because I'm not American but since he actually tried to make america a better country and trident give to all the americans the chance to create their own businesses going against the big industries that illegally made their fortunes. He's definitely in my top 5 because he's one of the few u.s' presidents I know something about, he would probably Be preceded only by the 2 other most famous presidents, G. Washington and Lincoln. I consider the first one more important because he's the one who started everything and that fought against britain to gain america's freedom, and the second one because fought for slave's freedom that is one of the most important "battles" ever fought by a president, T.R anyway definitely had a very important role in the u.s' history and that's why he's one of the most known American presidents not only in the U.S.

  13. I would rank Teddy Roosevelt in the top five influential presidents but I’m not sure exactly where because I don’t know accomplishments of other presidents. When watching the video on T.R. I liked how he made decisions based on the people’s opinions rather than following what his party believed in. T.R. helped break up monopolies and trusts so that they did not have the power to hurt the country. Also, having the president favor on the side of the working class showed his dedication to improving America. T.R. liked corporations but not ones that were out of control.
T.R. also thought about the future and not just problems America was facing at the time. He created the Antiquity act, which conserved resources. T.R. saved over 230 million acres of land.
T.R. also fought for the safety of people by creating laws such as the Meat inspection act and the pure food and drug act. What also made T.R. an influential president was how he followed through by making plans happen and carrying out laws.

  14. If i actually thought out a list of top 5 presidents, ...and even knew about many of the other presidents... T.R. would most deffinately be on my list. Along with Abraham Lincon and the Emancipation Proclamation. T.R. would be high on my list because he was very big with conservation. Since he had the rights of a president to create national forest preserves, roosevelt quadrupled the size of protected forests to millions of acres nationwide. This i find incredible. But if nothing else, the man was ferociously badass. I'm fairly sure that T.R., specifically his role in the rough riders, was one of the inspirations for batman...

  15. i will rank him as the top 5 president of U.S. because he became the president in the worstest time of U.S. in 20th and he really did somethings that helped America got the power and money during that hard time.I think without T.R. U.S. could not be as power as it was and would not be as stong as i was in the whole world. He savied the economic and the polity of U.S. and he also helped to grow them up.So i will say he is one of the best president of U.S.

  16. I would rank tr within the top 5 Presidents. The Presidents I would rank before hinm are Washington Jefferson and Lincoldn, George Eashington established Presidential Laws and he was the first President. Then Thomas Jefferson helped write the constitution and the Declaration and Lincoln abolished slavery. And TR helped saved the economy

  17. I Would consider Teddy Roosevelt one of the top 5 presidents of the United States because this man loved politics and he controlled it. He enjoyed presidency and his energy showed that. Woodrow Wilson in my eyes is considered more important because this president took full control of his power for an example he wanted a place "safe for democracy." World War I was his way of getting this but i still consider T.R on the top 5.

  19. I definitely think Teddy Roosevelt would be in the top five presidents.I think he was one of the first presidents at his time to actually do something. He was so energetic and had some many plans for America he had a positive energy towards politics and his goals.Even though he had different believes his different beliefs helped out America. He was big on conservation and was concerned about America, you could tell he really cared. So he created reservations and National Parks to help conserve America. He was also against trusts and monopolies he believed they were unfair and he was the first president to actually stop them and do something about it instead of them getting dishonest tons of money. He fought for the people as way making laws to benefit them. That is one different idea he had. Overall his positive energy and out of the box beliefs and ideas improved America, which is why in my book he would be one of the top 5 presidents.

  20. I would rank him number 4 in my top five presidents, because even though looking back his policies weren't perfect, he paved the way to the progressive era.
